    The direct simulation of high-speed mixing-layers without and with chemical heat release

    A direct numerical simulation of high speed reacting and non-reacting flows for H2-air systems is presented. The calculations are made for a convective Mach number of 0.38 with hyperbolic tangent initial profile and finite rate chemical reactions. A higher-order numerical method is used in time accurate mode to time advance the solution to a statistical steady state. About 600 time slices of all the variables are then stored for statistical analysis. It is shown that most of the problems of high-speed combustion with air are characterized by relatively weak heat release. The present study shows that: (1) the convective speed is reduced by heat release by about 10 percent at this convective Mach number M(sub c) = 0.38; (2) the variation of the mean and rms fluctuation of temperature can be explained on the basis of temperature fluctuation between the flame temperature and the ambient; (3) the growth rate with heat release is reduced by 7 percent; and (4) the entrainment is reduced by 25 percent with heat release. These differences are small in comparison with incompressible flow dynamics, and are argued to be due to the reduced importance of heat release in comparison with the large enthalpy gradients resulting from the large-scale vortex dynamics. It is finally suggested that the problems of reduced mixing in high-speed flows are not severely complicated by heat release

    In sheet metal stamping operations like Blanking and Piercing the punches are more prone to failure than the dies. The wear on the punches will affect the size and shape of the components produced. Hence industries are striving to innovate the ways by which the punch life can be prolonged which results in reduced punch changeover time and reduced spending on punch costs. In this study, the effect of cryogenic treatment on the properties of the piercing punches made of High Carbon High Chromium D3 Cold work type tool steels on microstructure, for improvement of tool life has been investigated. Conventionally the tool steel is heat treated by following Stress Relieving, Hardening and Tempering processes. In the present study 4 different groups of punch samples were prepared in High Carbon High Chromium D3 type cold work tool steel. First group of punches were conventional heat treated (HT). The second group of punches are cryogenically treated immediately after Stress relieving and hardening without performing tempering (HC). The third set of punches were cryogenically treated immediately after stress relieving and hardening and finally tempered (HCT) and the last group of punches were conventionally heat treated followed by cryogenic treatment (HTC). The cryogenic treatment is expected to improve the life of punches by improving the properties of the punches. The SEM and OM images of the cryogenically treated punches were taken to assess the improvement in their properties. The results showed significant improvement in properties of cryogenically treated punches favouring improvement in their life

    Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui (1) Efektivitas model EJAS dengan pendekatan science edutainment terhadap peningkatan perilaku peduli lingkungan (2) Efektivitas model EJAS dengan pendekatan science edutainment terhadap peningkatan perilaku tanggung jawab (3) Respon siswa terhadap model EJAS dengan pendekatan science edutainment. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode pre experimental design. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa model EJAS dengan pendekatan science edutainment dapat meningkatkan perilaku peduli lingkungan sebesar 73% dengan kategori tinggi, dapat meningkatkan perilaku tanggung jawab sebesar 65% dengan kategori sedang, serta respon siswa terhadap model EJAS dengan pendekatan science edutainment pada kategori baik

    Agricultural sector has important role for supporting region's food security, especially commodities of rice as staple food of most Indonesian. One of the efforts for increasing food plants, especially rice, which has been done by Agricultural Minister in 2007, is by programming Pengelolaan Tanaman Terpadu (integrated management of plant). It is held by the airy school methods in certain area. An indicator of successful SLPTT can be seen in the increased knowledge, skill and behavior, good cultivation, increased productivity and beyond. For SLPTT area, indicator of ups and downs that are stated by government is about 0,3 ton/ha. This research intends to understand the SLPTT rice in the border areas, rice productivity and increased of rice farmers' income through SLPTT. This research was held in October – November 2013 to the rice farmers who have become attendants of Sekolah Lapang Pengelolaan Tanaman Terpadu (SLPTT) in sub district Sesayap Hilir, district Tana Tidung. The data collection was questionnaire and direct observation. The proposed hypothesis: There are differences of farmers' income before and after attending SLPTT rice. SPSS 17 program was used for analyzing the proposed hypothesis by Paired sample t-test. The economical analysis was for counting the income levels by counting the total production cost (TC), acceptance (TR) and income (Π). Before SLPTT, the average of harvest productivity was 893 kg/ha GKP, the average of production cost was Rp 4.323.082,00 and the income was Rp 1.096.917,00. After SLPTT program, the respondents have raised their average productivity to 1.270 kg/ha GKP, production cost is Rp 6.041.463,00 and the average income is Rp 1.687.791,00. The result of paired sample t-test and SPSS is got the significance = 0,000 (sig<0,05). It means, Ho is declined and H1 is accepted. It causes the differences between before and after SLPTT program for rice farmers

    : Urban development which grows rapidly along with population growth triggers waste problem. This waste problem can be managed if there is inter-regional cooperation. The form and the program of inter-regional cooperation is reflected in handling waste sector in Sekretariat Bersama Kartamantul, Yogyakarta. The inter-regional cooperation is formed to build regions based on administrative development, especially sustainable development. The research aims to find out inter-regional cooperation in waste sector based on sustainable development in Sekretariat Bersama Kartamantul, Yogyakarta. This research uses qualitative research type. In building inter-regional cooperation, there are form and programs in waste sector that are intertwined. Inter-regional cooperation aims to be able to fulfil mutual needs of other regions in developing the regions. Inter-regional cooperation in waste sector has brought beneficial result and the result of developing the regions which is based on the principles of sustainable development. Inter-regional relationship requires inter-regional management to achieve the objective of inter-regional cooperation. The types of inter-regional cooperation which are built in Sekretariat Bersama Kartamantul, Yogyakarta has become a role model of inter-regional cooperation by other regions

    Peningkatan Kemampuan Analisis terhadap Kebijakan Publik melalui Model Pembelajaran Portofolio pada Mata Kuliah Konsep Dasar Pkn

    Portofolio based learning was used in this study as a way to help the students in PGSD improving analysis ability of public policy. This model consist of six steps activities that involve students on learning process about what is public policy, how to identify public policy, and then working step by step try to suggest the new one to the government. This research was a classroom action research. The research design employed a spiral model developed by Kemmis & Taggart. The research was conducted in PGSD FIP UNY and the research subjects were all students in the first semester at class B. The data were collected through observations, field notes, interviews, documents, and tests. The data were analyzed by qualitative data reduction, simplification, classification (narrative description), present them using tables and diagrams, and interpret relation of the variable. The research results in two cycles of action research managed showed that the used of portofolio based learning could improve analysis ability of public policy. There was significant improvement reached by the student, such as distinguish between fact and opinion, identifying prominent and proponent information, explaining the connection of information sources, summarize someone opinion, and connecting conclusion with supporting expression
